Skills, knowledge, and innovation are any country’s three basic driving forces of economic growth and social development. Bangladesh is the eighth most populous country in the world. That means we have an immense opportunity in the human resource sector. Technical Training is essential in ensuring the country’s competitiveness in the global labor market and ensuring decent work for all. The handicraft and Sewing Machine project is an initiative of the Switch Bangladesh Foundation for this course. It will strengthen economic development by creating efficient labor resources in the garment sector. By introducing new approaches such as competency-based training and assessment, structured apprenticeships and recognition of individual’s skill and quality training will create huge opportunities for decent work for all. Bangladesh is a developing country.
Still, about 13% of people in our country live below poverty. A huge number of children here are deprived of basic rights like education. Switch Bangladesh Foundation has been running a school for underdeveloped children since 2016 to ensure these basic rights for all classes of people. But with limited opportunity, we can only provide education till the primary level. After that, they must leave the study due to a lack of financial stability. It’s really a huge loss. Finally, Switch Bangladesh Foundation figured out a solution. To ensure financial stability it decided to train parents of our students and create a potential workforce and to meet this purpose it started this project of sewing training. We named it ‘Switch Craft’. This vulnerable class will get a chance to sew their torn dreams and finally, the school will run on a partner’s donation + 100 % tuition fee + income from knitwear.
Switch Craft provides 3 innovative action training for marginal people’s empowerment.
Tailoring, Cutting, and Sewing Training is a 3-month long training session for fresher women who learn the basics of cutting and sewing like scissoring, machine introduction, cloth cutting measurement, use of inch tape, and sewing new fabrics in different shapes.
In handicraft training trainees learn and practice methods of making antique goods like Nokshi Kantha, designing in bags, Hand fan design, bedsheets, Cushion covers, pillow covers, Walmart, etc.
In the Production step, trainees learn the production of antique goods by recycling and upcycling process from old or unnecessary clothes from the 10tk khusi project. They collect chains, hooks, and buttons from unnecessary shirts and pants and use them in producing new products. They use sarees from 10tkay khusi to produce new clothes like one piece, two pieces, Panjabi, and couple dresses.

One of the most beautiful scenery of all is school going kids with bags in their arms. In normal sense those bag carries books or other reading-writing materials. Actually they are carrying hope for a better future of the country. When a kid stops going school, this hope dies. The main objective of our plan is to keep this hope alive for ever and make the dream of Sonar Bangla comes true.
We planned to create skilled working force and give the under privileged group a decent life. So that they don’t have to stop their children going school due to financial condition.
Our key objectives are:
